Garmin unveils the Aera 660 - The next-generation portable GPS!

Discover the Aera 660, Garmin's new affordable and functional portable GPS.

The Atlantic version includes the new navigation base that provides VFR users with more visual cues and intersections that are often used when contacting the control tower. In addition, when selecting a street or intersection on the aera mobile map, it's easier to identify the aircraft's location while navigating in an urban or unfamiliar environment. Users can also input City Navigator® road maps to activate address look-up functions within the aera for easy off-airport navigation.

The Aera 660 features a 5" anti-glare screen optimized for cockpits. An elegant yet rugged design enables the Aera 660 to withstand harsh environments. It meets rigorous temperature tests and helicopter vibration standards.

The legendary "Direct-to" feature is still available, so it's easy to find the nearest airport.

A mini-USB connector, micro SD™ card slot and removable battery are included in the Aera 660.

Depending on settings and external connections, drivers will have up to 4 hours of battery life.

The intuitive user interface is similar to that of the GTN™ 650/750, the aera 795/796 and the Garmin Pilot ™ app.

Touchscreen operation is simple and intuitive. It features 3D vision that taps into a worldwide terrain database to create a rich 3D presentation of the terrain. It also displays lateral and vertical (VNAV) deviation bars and includes a 360-degree H.S.I., which displays course deviation, heading marker and more.

Wireless connection, thanks to integrated Wifi, allows users to update data more easily. When the Aera 660 is connected to Wi-Fi, pilots can easily download and update aviation databases without needing to physically connect to a computer.
In addition, the Aera 660 supports connectivity with the Garmin Virb ®, XE HD action camera, so pilots can monitor their recordings and take photos.

Bluetooth supports ADS-B display from a variety of sources, including GDL 42, Flight Stream and the ADS-B GTX 345 transponder. ADS-B is first and foremost a means of surveillance, i.e. a way for air traffic control to know the position of aircraft.
