Continuous updates from SiriusXM satellites - accessible by land and air - can help you make better flight decisions, faster. The powerful satellites of the SiriusXM network offer seamless coverage at all altitudes across the continental U.S. and its coastal regions, as well as southern Canada. (See coverage map.) Choose from available SiriusXM Aviation weather packages that provide METAR data and NEXRAD animated images, as well as up-to-date reports on precipitation, lightning, winds aloft, echoes overhead, turbulence, frost levels, TFRs and more ¹. And to help you maintain the most up-to-date weather picture, your GDL 51 receiver can put SiriusXM weather on hold when your screen is idle or off. It updates automatically when you turn the screen back on.

Battery life

The GDL 51 is a true all-rounder. A built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery enables the GDL 51 to receive SiriusXM data wirelessly for up to 7 hours on a single charge. And for power-connected operation, you can plug it into your aircraft's 12 V socket using the supplied adapter cable, or use the microUSB port on the side of the receiver.
