Jean Nicolas, a former pilot with the French Air Force and the French Army's light aviation corps, has indulged his hunger for all things flying. He has flown a variety of aircraft: conventional planes, turbojets, helicopters and seaplanes. He is a graduate of the E.T.A.P. (Pau) airborne training school.
For his flight training, he passed through famous flying schools: Marrakech, Le Bourget de Lac, Dax, Aulnat, Salon de Provence, etc. His passion for training student pilots led him to perfect his pedagogical skills. To this end, he has chosen a particular teaching method: drawing and sketching to appeal to everyone.
Helicopter piloting is a very special field, requiring specific training and skills on the part of the student, as well as a lot of hard work. In 1992, he relaunched a light seaplane flying school in Marseille (Etang de Berre) and Biscarosse, while continuing his training on helicopters, the "magic" aircraft that mankind now masters perfectly.
In this ninth volume, "Je pilote l'hélicoptère" (I fly the helicopter), the author has kept to the same spirit as in his previous books, with clear, accessible texts and numerous personal, hand-drawn illustrations. This book, which includes numerous technical drawings, took over 3 years to prepare. It relates to modern helicopter piloting.
