IR Theoretical Training – VOLUMES 1 AND 2

Theoretical preparation for IR (European) training, in line with the new 2018 learning objectives, is provided by this book, comprising two inseparable volumes, which together cover all the subjects to be studied.

The various subjects have been developed by Institut MERMOZ professors:

Serge POUPARD, air traffic control engineer, with extensive teaching experience with pilots and controllers in training at the Ecole Nationale de l'Aviation Civile and Institut MERMOZ.

Alain NGUYEN, an engineer by training, has held positions of responsibility in the AIR FRANCE Group's Technical Departments for over twenty years. His professional skills and human qualities make him a highly effective and much-appreciated trainer at the Institut MERMOZ.

Professor Henri MAROTTE, Doctor of Medicine, who, as former Chief Medical Officer of the Flight Test Center and the Aerospace Medical Laboratory, is one of Europe's leading authorities on aeronautical physiology.

Dr. Jean-Yves GRAU, Human Reliability consultant and former Air Force flight personnel physician, who brings his experience in ergonomics and air event analysis to bear on the psychology aspect.

Mouna DJAFFAR, former radio navigator in the French Air Force, former head of the radiotelephony department at the AIR FRANCE training center, trainer at the Institut MERMOZ for many years, where his competence and efficiency are matched only by his kindness and availability.

Daniel DUBUIS, former airline pilot with AIR FRANCE and amateur radio technician for over 40 years (call sign F6EPD), who has combined his technical skills with his operational spirit to design an affordable study of all on-board instruments and radio navigation systems.

Nicolas CHAUMEL, an airline pilot, has established himself, despite his young age, as an expert in the very special field of on-board automation. He is now one of the leading instructors of this course as part of the masterclass at the Institut MERMOZ.

Christian BEZANGER is a meteorological engineer and a Captain with Air France, and his dual background means that this book combines technical knowledge with operational application.

Meteorological engineer Gilles VOURIOT, former Air Force forecaster, former manager at Aéroports de Paris and trainer at the Institut MERMOZ, also contributed to this book.

They have all worked together to write this book with a view to ensuring optimum preparation for the exam.
