The Aeronautical Information Service (AIS) is an essential branch of the French Directorate of Air Navigation Services (DSNA), which is part of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGAC). Based near Bordeaux-Mérignac Airport (LFBD), AIS plays a crucial role in the safety, regularity, and efficiency of air navigation in mainland France and overseas.
AIS is responsible for providing aeronautical information services in accordance with the international standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and at the European level by the EASA Regulations. Its main responsibilities include:
French Aeronautical Publications (AIP): AIS establishes and disseminates the AIP, a regularly updated publication containing essential information for pilots, such as approach and departure procedures, navigation facilities, restrictions, and more.
NOTAMs and Supplements to the AIP: AIS publishes NOTAMs (Notice to Airmen) to inform pilots of any urgent or temporary information affecting flight safety. The AIP Supplements complement and temporarily modify the information in the AIP.
Aeronautical Information Circulars (AIC): These circulars disseminate important information that is not related to immediate flight safety but is relevant to air operations.
Aeronautical Charts and Digital Data: AIS produces and makes available detailed aeronautical charts as well as sets of digital data used by air navigation services and users.
Since April 2021, the BNIA has been an integral part of AIS. This office plays a crucial role in helping pilots prepare their flights by providing essential aeronautical information such as routes, airspaces, flight plan writing, flight levels, etc. BNIA also processes all flight plans filed for domestic flights, using specific tools and ensuring the dissemination of associated messages.
AIS strictly complies with the requirements of EU Regulation 2017/373 and is committed to maintaining high standards of safety and quality in the aeronautical information it provides. Its role is essential for ensuring the effective and safe management of French airspace, thus supporting civil aviation as a whole.
We offer aeronautical charts produced by the Aeronautical Information Service (AIS) in our catalog. These charts are essential for pilots and air operators, providing detailed and accurate information on approach procedures, airspaces, navigation facilities, and other crucial elements for flight planning and safety. AIS, as the French authority on aeronautical information, guarantees the quality and reliability of its publications, making it the preferred choice for our aviation professional clientele.
AIS is a vital pillar of the safety and efficiency of air navigation in France, offering critical and up-to-date information services to support both national and international air operations.
