The best in safety at your aerodromes

Aviators navigate, orient themselves, communicate, and prepare their flights using instruments with sophisticated electronic technologies. But equipment that appears simpler and more modest is just as essential. Here's an overview of wind socks, beacons, and other accessories that take to the runway to ensure safe landings and take-offs.

1. STNA Certified Wind Sock

It is the sentinel of every runway. Always in place in its striped outfit, it faithfully performs its role: indicating the direction and strength of the wind. There’s nothing more indispensable for pilots, especially during landing and takeoff phases.
But it’s not just a simple piece of cloth: every airport, aerodrome, or heliport's wind sock must be STNA (Service Technique de la Navigation Aérienne) certified and comply with the regulations set by the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization).
It must be installed in an open space to be easily seen by helicopters or aircraft in flight. Combined with an LED lighting system, it is visible both day and night.
The Bayo store offers all the components that make up this tool:

  • The wind sock itself, in its classic red and white version, designed to indicate the wind's direction but also an estimate of its speed; or in its orange version, which indicates unfavorable wind conditions for certain nautical equipment;
  • The simple mast and the FAA mast in steel, 4 meters high, available in either a simple version or a tilting version;
  • The weather vane which completes the equipment: we recommend prioritizing those certified by the STNA, ensuring undeniable reliability.

2. Runway Marking for Each Runway

Low-intensity Aerial Marking

The portable beacon for low altitude is used at certified aerodromes to welcome or launch VFR flights at night. Available in red, white, blue, or green depending on its variation, it can be used for temporary marking of work zones or closed runways. It can also serve for the temporary illumination of a runway or any other light marking.
It should be used for structures not exceeding 45 meters in height, while respecting the runway obstacle marking regulations established by the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization).

Marking for Grass Runways

If your aerodrome is not certified for VFR flight, you can opt for less expensive solutions, such as yellow conical markers, white conical markers, and also red and white dihedral markers. We also offer fixing stakes to prevent your markings from being disturbed or moved.
The red and white dihedral markers are equipped with breakable stakes and are used to mark the ends of runways and roads on the aerodrome.
Composite markers are dedicated to marking runways and roads at the aerodrome or airport. The conical markers are white for runway boundaries and yellow for taxiways.
You’ll also find several complementary options on our site: stickers or lighted markings, for example.
All our markers are designed not to damage the aircraft in the event of a collision.

Runway Personnel

It’s important not to forget them! Equip your colleagues on the runway with a light stick.

3. Aerodrome Equipment for Pilots

The aerodrome is now ready to welcome aircraft. But aircraft also need specific accessories to care for them when they are on the ground: all these small items will make pilots’ lives easier!
On your shopping list, don’t forget a tie-down kit to secure your aircraft on the ground: it will be quite useful! Also remember your wheel chocks for added comfort.
Once the aircraft is properly anchored, maintain it with our rags and our new-generation cleaning products for a quick shine without effort in just a few minutes using waterless washing. You’ll also need flame protectors to remember what must be removed before taking off.
Finally, transport your aircraft with ease and without effort using a TF1 or TF2 tug depending on the aircraft’s weight.

Whether you’re in charge of the aerodrome or piloting your aircraft, you’re now ready to navigate the runways, and safely!
