This book is aimed at those wishing to improve their knowledge of VOR use. It can also serve as a reference for instructors, who will find material to illustrate their courses. The emphasis is on materialization and on a few simple, but often overlooked, basic principles which, once acquired, will make it easy to solve any problem.
Even though satellite navigation is becoming increasingly important today, it remains essential to know how to use this classic means of radionavigation.
After a brief review of the basics, we'll take a look at :
- firstly, the CDI, which equips the majority of aeroclub aircraft,
- then HSI and RMI. These latter indicators tend to be fitted on aircraft that are generally IFR-certified.
However, with the advent of "Glass-cockpit" instrumentation on more and more aircraft, including microlights, we're now seeing the "electronic" equivalent of the latter.
A brief introduction will be given to this instrumentation, in the context of VOR use, as it often provides very useful additional information.
The presentation, illustrated by numerous diagrams, is intended to be as simple as possible, sometimes using analogies. In addition, numerous corrected exercises will enable readers to check their knowledge and make the course their own by developing their own experience.
