Flight Stream 510

• Garmin is relentless in its efforts to create a connected cockpit, with avionics and applications that enable the synchronization of a wide variety of portable and panel-mounted products. The latest offering is Flight Stream 510, a tiny board that unlocks an impressive number of features.

  Flight Stream 510 fits into the normal memory card slot of a GTN 650 or 750.
  Flight Stream 510 is part of the Connext product family.

  Flight Stream 510 includes both Bluetooth and WiFi technologies, Bluetooth being used for weather, traffic and position data. WiFi is used for database updates. Bluetooth can connect to two devices at once (iOS, Android or Garmin aera 660/796), and the initial pairing is just what you'd expect. Access the Connext page on the GTN 750 (if you have more than one, it's important to do it on GTN #1 or it won't work). Once in the Manage Devices page on the 750, you can access the Settings app on your iPad to connect to the Bluetooth Flight Stream. Once you've done this, future connections should be automatic, so there's nothing more to do after this initial setup. You can always check the status of paired devices by accessing the Connext page of the Garmin Pilot menu, then tapping on the Flight Stream 510 page, then selecting "Manage paired devices". This will display all devices already paired and allow you to Reconnect automatically, which should be enabled by default.
