The Bose A30 aviation headset is best suited for situations where noise is omnipresent, comfort is required and communication is essential.
The A30 is the quietest, most comfortable active noise-canceling aviation headset in the industry. It offers unrivalled long-term comfort with enhanced communication capabilities, including selectable noise cancellation and conversation control modes. With FAA/EASA TSO C-139a certification, an on-head weight of just 404 grams and numerous plug configurations, pilots of virtually any aircraft can experience the most versatile around-ear headset on the market.
The Bose A30 aviation headset is the most advanced to date. Its lightweight design, low clamping force and specialized earcup design ensure maximum comfort, even on long flights.
The A30 is customizable to the pilot's environment and/or personal preferences, thanks to three selectable active noise cancellation modes. This industry-leading active noise cancellation is achieved without compromising the sound clarity and ease of use you've come to expect from Bose.
All models come with two AA batteries, and some models can also be powered by the airplane. These models feature a flexible power function that allows pilots to switch seamlessly between battery and aircraft power without compromising headset performance.
What's the difference between the A30 aviation headset and its predecessor, the A20 aviation headset?
The A30 aviation headset is the evolution of the A20. Its elegant, modern design significantly improves long-term comfort, thanks to a lower weight on the head and reduced clamping force. It also features three active noise reduction modes and a sound pick-up control for live communications.
The A30 retains the acclaimed noise reduction and advanced electronic materials and capabilities of the A20. Each of these advances has created the best combination of noise reduction and audio clarity on the market.
How much noise reduction does the Bose A30 aviation headset offer?
The Bose A30 aviation headset offers three user-selectable noise cancellation modes that have been individually designed for specific use cases. Low" mode optimizes interpersonal communication when not using an intercom system. The "Medium" mode offers the most coherent reduction over a wide frequency range, and the "High" mode offers the most active noise reduction to maximize the signal-to-noise ratio for radio communications. The three modes have been designed for distinct uses.
Bose makes no claims regarding the noise reduction mode. We encourage pilots to try the product in a variety of aircraft to discover for themselves the spectacular performance and capabilities of each mode.

What are the different configurations of the A30 headset?
The most common connection configurations are as follows:
● Dual plug (PJ 068 and ¼ inch stereo): With the dual plug, two AA alkaline batteries provide a minimum of 45 hours of in-flight operation. This version is user-configured for stereo or mono audio and is commonly used in all types of aircraft.
● XLR 5-pin: This configuration, often referred to as the Airbus plug, is a mono connection powered by the aircraft or batteries, depending on the aircraft's capabilities. When disconnected, the flexible power function allows pilots to switch seamlessly between aircraft and battery power.
● U-174: The U-174 is a single-plug configuration commonly used in military aircraft and several helicopter models.
● (LEMO) 6-pin: With this option, the headset is connected to the aircraft via a 6-pin connector and is powered directly by the aircraft. Two AA alkaline batteries can also be used to enhance flexibility. When disconnected, the flexible power supply allows pilots to switch seamlessly between aircraft and battery power*.
*Bose adapters are available to convert a 6-pin connector to a dual G/A plug or a U-174 for additional connection flexibility.
How does customizable audio prioritization work?
The control module has three user-defined priority states:
● Mixed audio position: The intercom signal mixes with auxiliary audio input signals.
● Muted audio position: Auxiliary input signals are muted when an ICS signal is present.
● Off: Auxiliary audio sources are completely disabled to ensure sterile cockpit operations.
Note: when a Bluetooth® call is in progress, the call audio always mixes with the ICS signal. The Bluetooth® function is always deactivated in passive mode and when battery life indications are red/low.
What is the battery life of the Bose A30 aviation headset?
The A30 operates for at least 45 hours on two AA alkaline batteries in typical aircraft noise. With continuous Bluetooth® operation, battery life is over 25 hours. As always, battery life varies according to battery type, noise environment and functions used during flight. The headset is equipped with a battery life indicator which signals the need to replace the batteries. We do not recommend the use of rechargeable batteries. In fact, in-flight battery life may be less than the acclaimed 45 hours, depending on the type of battery chemistry used. Rechargeable batteries can also alter the accuracy of the battery status light; when the light turns amber, pilots probably have less than eight hours of flight time left. Several battery types can be used, including lithium-ion batteries. Pilots should be aware that battery life indications may vary according to the type of battery used.
