You're about to become a professional remote drone pilot, and whatever field you work in, you'll be part of a community with its own history, its own dreams and its own rules.
More than just a cramming exercise, the aim of this book is to give you a thorough grounding in the technical and regulatory issues involved in operating a drone, and to accompany you long after you've graduated.
The MCQs will change over time, but your technical knowledge will deepen throughout your experience as a telepilot, and this book is here to help you do just that.
The aim is to present the theoretical knowledge required by telepilots as part of their initial training and to maintain their skills.
"Knowledge" prepares you for "know-how", and it is in the first category that this manual focuses.
This includes the description and operation of drone components, the principles of flight, the meteorological environment in which the drone operates, the general and specific regulatory framework, the principles of navigation, mission management in operational scenarios, and fundamental knowledge of human performance.
This book combines the aeronautical expertise of Régis Le Maitre, engineer and teacher at ENAC, and already a major contributor to the pilot's manuals, with the specific aerial drone expertise of Bastien Mancini, co-founder of DELAIR, a French drone manufacturer.
Designing, writing and publishing an exam preparation manual is a challenge, since by definition it is aimed at a disparate audience, with different prerequisites from one candidate to another. That's why this type of work is necessarily a compromise. We think we've struck the right balance here.
An index of over 400 words will help you navigate the manual more easily and find the answers to your theoretical questions as you progress.
Happy reading and good work!
