THE AIRCRAFT MANUAL :

Progressive, educational and a guarantee of successful learning, this manual provides you with the essential theoretical, technical and practical data, knowledge and know-how you need.

This book is both useful and necessary for the student pilot, who will find it a reliable, tried-and-tested reference tool. It is also a reassuring tool for the instructor. Finally, it is a pertinent means of maintaining knowledge and skills for the already licensed Pilot.

The phases of the Manual :

  • Phase 1: Knowledge of the aircraft
  • Phase 2: Basic piloting
  • Phase 3: Aerodromes, radiotelephony and air traffic control
  • Phase 4: Navigation
  • Phase 5: Meteorology
  • Phase 6: Advanced piloting
  • Phase 7: Flight preparation and management
  • Phase 8: Institutional framework
  • Phase 9 : European licences
  • Phase 10: Human performance and its limits

The richness of the index is an invaluable aid to the

- for the learner, enabling efficient learning and revision work

- and for the instructor, facilitating rapid searches.

The table of figures is a second valuable research tool, listing all 558 figures in the manual.

Compliance and regulatory watch :

DTO and ATO-compliant program for theory and practice, PPL(A) and LAPL(A)

This 18th edition takes account of regulatory changes linked to :

  • Regulation (EU) SERA (Standard European Rules of the Air) N° 923/2012 for rules of the air
  • Regulation (EU) AIROPS N° 965/2012 for the operation of aircraft during non-commercial activities (Annex VII -NCO)
  • Regulation (EU) AIRCREW N° 1178/2011 for licensing.

Accordingly, this Manual follows the FCL compliance framework:

- It complies with AMC 1 FCL 210 / AMC 1 FCL 215 for theoretical training to obtain the PPL - A. (FCL 020, FCL 200, FCL 205, FCL 210, FCL 215, FCL 235, AMC 1 FCL 235, AMC 3 FCL 235).

- It complies with AMC 1 FCL 115 / AMC 1 FCL 120, 125 for theoretical training to obtain the LAPL - A. (FCL 100, FCL 105, FCL 110, FCL 115, FCL 120, FCL 125).

All syllabus points are covered.

In the "Addenda" tab, you'll find the points corrected since the manual was published. We keep a close eye on the latest regulations, and indicate any changes here.

THE PROGRESS BOOKLET :

The progress booklet is a single document for both the LAPL and the PPL.

The Theory and Flight Instruction lessons are logically associated in a desirable pedagogical progression, but which the Instructor will adapt according to the conditions encountered. This is a guide, not a constraint.

Before each future Lesson, the Instructor can easily ask his Student to prepare it: in fact, the references to the pages of the Aircraft Manual are mentioned.

The Instructor ticks off each item according to the student's progress: in progress, objective achieved, objective mastered.

A Lesson as a whole will only be ticked once all the items in that Lesson have been mastered; the Instructor will return to items not yet "mastered" as many times as necessary.

As for the cartridges summarizing each flight, they are common to both Licenses and follow one another, facilitating chronological tracking. The Instructor (whether the usual one or an FI taking over) can easily visualize the stage reached by the Student.

The Skills dimension has been taken into account to avoid complicating the Instructor's task; each item is already assigned one or more skills; box(es) that the Instructor will tick when the time comes.

- The "Theory & Flight Instruction Matrices" enable the instructor to monitor and control the student's progress throughout the course. This is a coherent package, in line with EASA guidelines.

FLYING LESSONS 5TH EDITION :

The aim of this book is to provide simple, effective help for student pilots taking the practical tests for the PPL(A) or LAPL(A).

Each exercise (blue bands) is preceded by a theoretical reminder (yellow bands). These reminders, sometimes modest, sometimes forceful, are interwoven with "handling", i.e. know-how.

The practical part, the fruit of the authors' extensive experience (common errors), will provide the student, with the invaluable help of his instructor, with simple, targeted knowledge enabling him to memorize easily and analyze precisely the work to be carried out.
